On the show today is podcast and commercial voice over artist, Rye Taylor. In addition to doing some incredible magic acts when it comes to voice, creativity, and sharing the best part of a message, he is also the host of Take Action Q & A. I love how he does his show - he brings in the movers and shakers of business, picks their brain, and has them answer one specific question from a listener, follower, or fan.
As he likes to say, " Solving the world's problems in 10 minutes or less", his show is one of the fastest ways to get a quick audio education that I know of.
Rye's Backstory >>> Let's just say that being a pastor, was a generational vocation - he was a pastor, as was his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He knew that world well and had the graduate level education to back it up.
He was serving as senior pastor when he made the decision to step away from traditional "pastor's work" and explore the entrepreneurial side.
Here's why - The lion's share of the people he was ministering to weren't that interested in vision casting, pushing the limits, or striving for more. All of which were his specialities.
Frankly, as he talks about on the show, they were content where they were. And that OK, for them. However, for him to grow, serve, and "minister" in a way that was truly honoring to all (even God), he had to do his own thing.
Had he stayed in the familiar small church setting, he could have missed-out on true opportunity for ministry.

Author and podcast host Kirsten Ross launched her business as a single parent about ten years ago and has been a catalyst for helping companies motivate their employees getting buy-in for the long-term vision. She has two great books out Defeat the Drama and From People Problems to Productivity. She’s been all over the media like NBC Nightly News and NPR. She also hosts her own show - Defeat the Drama.
Kirsten's backstory >>> She had been called a failure and a sham for so many years, for her own self defense and survival, she she would shrink and make herself smaller and smaller. Emotionally wounded, but persistent in spirit, she did what a lot of moms and wives often do, she tried to fix what was beyond repair.
Her ideas and energy started to flow once she shifted her focus from repair mode to creation mode - specifically, creating a business and a home that would support her faith and family.

Many of us self-help and personal growth junkies have read books or listened to programs in which the creators ask us to imagine or write-out what we want our ideal life to look like. It's a great approach for some and no doubt, can be very revealing. However, for today's guest, it was a different framework that caught her interest and gave her the clarity for what to do next.
She focused her attention and her intention on how she wanted to feel each and every day. Beyond business metrics, to-do lists, and conference calls, what she really wanted to experience was - peace and calm. Accountability coach, productivity strategist, and host of Live your Life Now and Get the right (bleep) Done, Liz Brazier joins us on this very practical show to share how she walked away from twenty-plus years in IT sales in the corporate world, to experience a life of her own making.

Path of Development - Jane Atkinson has been helping speakers catapult their careers for more than 20 years. She started as an agent representing speakers and when several of them quickly went from 0 to 80 engagements per year, she became known as an influencer in the speaking industry.
With that kind of rep, she landed a VP spot with International Speakers Bureau in Dallas, where she represented several celebrities, best-selling authors and business experts and learned. For the past 10 years, Jane has run Speaker Launcher.
Common rookie mistake for new speakers - Lack of positioning. Marketing yourself as an expert in multiple categories.(Ex. leadership, team-building, time management, conflict resolution, goal setting, etc.)
Business advice – While everyone has a story, not every story is sellable (in the speaking business). Package your speech or a version of your story in a way that people will pay for.
How to be a triple threat in your business – 1) Hone and sharpen platform skills; 2) marketing skills; 3) sales skills.
Transition from full time job to be a speaker? Carve out designated time to work on the new business; transition gradually, give yourself a three-year window.
What contributed the most to her success – mindset and relationships. Several years ago, a coach challenged her to write down the specifics of her ideal life. That exercise alone was transformational.
Immediate action steps (If she were starting over from square one tomorrow) – 1) Pick a lane (be very clear on what you want to be known for); 2) Develop targeted marketing and informational materials; 3) Create a website using strong language; 4) Build a solid foundation upon which to grow.

Do you remember what we were doing two years ago - early Spring, 2012? Our guest, Stephanie Decker, was in the middle of a storm.
As a category five tornado ripped through the tiny town of Henryville, Indiana, lifting her home off its foundation and smashing it to the ground, she used her body as a shield to protect her two young children from flying debris, falling beams, and a disintegrating house. Even after her legs were crushed from a structural collapse, her motherly instincts did not fail her - directing her kids on what to do next.
She did what any mom would do for her family. Because of her heroic efforts, her children walked away from the rubble unscathed. As she explains on the show, “Not even a scratch.”
Since the accident, Stephanie has inspired a nation. She has appeared on the Today Show, The Ellen Degeneres Show, ABC World News Tonight (as "person of the week"), and featured in publications such as USA Today, and People Magazine. She also started the Stephanie Decker Foundation, which helps children with prosthetic legs, enjoy sports and helps people gain access to leading-edge prosthetics.

This is the second half of the conversation I had with Darren.
In this segment, he begins by answering one of our listener’s questions about his early-morning success habits.
Don't read this book, STUDY IT!!! The Compound Effect
Other questions he responds to:
Fri, 29 August 2014
While he may not have appreciated it at the time, those early-morning wake-up calls by his football-coach dad, were setting him up for something big - a six-figure income in his own business, by the time he was 18 and the creation of a $50 million business, by age 27.
DO NOT read this book! STUDY IT!!! – The Compound Effect
Publisher of Success magazine, New York Times bestselling author of The Compound Effect, husband, and humanitarian, Darren Hardy, joins us on the show.
In this two-part podcast series, he talks about, among other things – mentors, success routines, habits, momentum, media exposure, marriage, and of course, the magic of the compound effect.
Here are some of the questions Darren expands upon:

On the show, this guy is one of the most versatile, talented and funniest entertainers I’ve ever seen. His wit, humor, and genius has dazzled audiences in all the familiar hot spots - Showtime, HBO, the White House, and the famous Apollo Theatre. The performer has shared stages with Aretha Franklin and James Brown. He’s also joined Jennifer Aniston and Dana Carvey on the big screen. Originally one of my first guests (years ago), comedian, actor, humanitarian, and philanthropist, James Stephens III, joins us on the show.
James’ backstory >>> (Academically trained as an attorney, funny man James Stephens III had to follow his passion to create a better way for at-risk students.)
Comparing his early years to a scene from the hit movie "The Blind Side", he was born the youngest of seven children, adopted out around the age of 8 and raised by a loving family, outside of his race.
Through the spiritual and emotional blend of God’s grace and his parents’ loving embrace, he not only made it through secondary school but went on to attend Georgetown University, earned his law degree and then went on to clerk for three years.
With an impressive educational pedigree in the background and a bright law career in the foreground, today's guest chose to walk away from the legal world to follow his heart and live out who he truly is: an entertainer.
By trusting his own intuition and gifts, James achieved notoriety and has appeared on a number of television shows and comedy specials, which included performances at the White House, the famous Apollo Theatre and Carnegie Hall.
While success on the stage didn't happen overnight, God’s hands were at work in the comedian's life; revealing, something bigger than he could ever imagine.
By harnessing his talents on stage and being true to his passions for entertainment, ministry and kids, he aligned himself with the greater need of at-risk students. The James Stephens III Foundation has contributed more than $500,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors.
By following his VOICE, James is able to speak into the lives of millions of people; millions he would have missed, had he settled for the corner office.

Entrenched in a worn-out plan, he did what was expected - he went from high school, to college, to corporate, to misery. And, like you and me, the sparks that filled his dreams and kept him awake during his teen years, flickered in his twenties, smoldered in his thirties, and were all but forgotten by the time he reached his 40th birthday.
Bruce 's bestselling book - You Can Go the Distance
Miserable by the life he was watching go by, he was battered by many of life's punches - two bankruptcies, a spousal mental meltdown, and cancer. As he explains on the show, for him, a good day was "a day I could get through". Bestselling author, life coach, speaker, and Marathon runner, Bruce Van Horn joins us on the show today to share three solid action-steps for taking control of your health, sanity, and life.

With only nine bucks in his pocket, he left his homeland of India in search of another dream on a different continent. Taking a sales job, he absorbed the culture, closed deals, and quickly climbed the rungs. Through a wonderful series of events and divine intervention sprinkled all along the way, he ended up with a ticket that would change the course of his life - an event ticket to see the legendary Zig Ziglar speak. From that ordained encounter, the young man from across the world, worked his way up from entry-level telemarketer, to VP of Global Ops.

(If you didn't know, he is one of only two people trained personally by the master of motivation.) Read Krish's amazing book - The American Dream - From an Indian heart

The Boston Globe called this guy “an uncommonly honest author”. The Wall Street Journal called him a “marketing guru”. And, as far as I know, he is the only professional actor that is also a New York Times bestselling, business author. To his credit, he has only fallen off the stage, into the orchestra pit, once… (According to my sources.)
The incredible Michael Port joins us on the show to share a personal struggle with food and weight loss, and the ReLaunch that not only helped rescue his health, it strengthened his business and beefed up his bottom line.
What you'll hear in this episode - honesty, humility, and humor.

Author of the incredible book, So Long Inner Critic – Hello Inner Champion, nationally known speaker, trainer, and performance coach, Marcie Stern joins us on the show.
Marcie's backstory >>> While she originally followed a career path that seemed to be well laid-out – a graduate degree and then a career in hospital administration, she knew that “something was missing”, and there had to be “more out there”. By her own admission – She was a gerbil trapped in the wheel of status quo expectations and experiences.
Realizing she wasn’t making the contribution she knew she was capable of, she still had lingering doubts as to her own value; the question she would often ask herself – “Am I good enough?”
Despite the self-doubt, she held strong to her convictions and stepped into the unknown entrepreneurial world.
Her turning point: “This is my opportunity to be heard!”
Beliefs and heavy questions she had to remove from her thinking: “How can you leave something that’s successful?” “Are you really contributing to your family?”

Going into immediate survival mode, her life as a new mother changed in an terror-filled flash when Samantha, her 18-month-old daughter, almost died before finally being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. As she openly talks about on the show, she became desperate, angry, and physically unhealthy as she did everything she could to raise an insulin dependent child. It took 13 years for today's guest to realize that, while busy saving her daughter, she forgot to save herself.
Inspirational speaker, strong mom, and author of the upcoming book, "Saving Her, Saving Me", Bonita Lehmann, joins us on the show to share how she took control of her life back, stayed accountable, and got her game on.
Our ReLaunch! eBook gift to you - 7 Days of Self Care
Bonita's turning point
After ignoring years of signs and signals that were trying to get her attention, she awoke early one morning with the imaginary realness of being choked into submission. She then heard (maybe felt) an inner voice assuring her that today was the day for a change in plans.
One of the best parts of her entire journey
Her daughters grew to respect her and became her biggest fans and cheerleaders.

Our guest, G. Brian Benson, is an actor, multiple award winning self-help author, filmmaker, speaker, radio personality, musician, inspirational poet, children’s author, finisher of over 50 triathlons (including 4 Ironman distance races), cross-country bicyclist, and someone that believes in YOU! On the show he shares his best ideas and tips for how to believe and trust in yourself, even if no one else does.
G. Brian's backstory >>> After about twelve years in the family business (a golf center), he was burned out and ready for more than just a change; he was ready for a new beginning. Allowing himself the room to stretch, grow, and understand, he kept open to possibilities and on the lookout for exciting opportunities. And, while he's already accomplished a life's worth of work (in my opinion anyway), in real-time, all of this is still showroom-fresh for him.

Taking a break from their studies, he and a few college friends were hoofing-it to a nearby party when he decided to short-cut through a wooded area. Making his way off the beaten-path, he found himself perched on-top of a towering train trestle, 40-feet above the rushing currents of the local river. The fall took from him the mobility he had in his legs and as he explains on the show, was an "unbelievable setback" that stacked-up to two months of rehabilitation. In the beginning of his very personal ReLaunch! he had to relearn many activities that were once second nature to him.
Keynote speaker and author of the upcoming book F.E.A.R. N.O.T. - Embrace Life's Journey, Dale Spencer joins us on the show to share the two main ingredients that have steeped his courage, accelerated his professional growth and helped him achieve his goals.
An empowering AHA! observation Dale shares

They were both disenchanted educators. Nicole knew she was on the passion-absent safe path and Omar understood that he could be easily replaced. One of the frustrations she felt was that she couldn't see herself as anything other than a teacher. For him, his creativity was held captive.
As they both felt boxed-in, they ended-up quitting at the same time - eager to stretch their legs and chase their entrepreneurial dream. Hosts of People Who Know their Sh*t, the teacher-turned-entrepreneur duo of Omar Zenhom and Nicole Baldinu join us on the show to share their hopeful message that there is life after teaching.
One of the reasons Pei and I are excited to have them on is because they have found another application for their training, experience, and passion. Don't get me wrong, they're still in the teaching, empowering, and equipping business, they're just doing it now on their terms - whenever, wherever, and with whomever they choose. In a nutshell - Business Republic (Omar and Nicole) help bootstrapping entrepreneurs build viable and profitable businesses they can be proud of.
One other thing about these two, they are launching another podcast, The $100 MBA, which will feature fast, no-fluff, 10 minute business lessons.
Need a real business education without the debt, commute, and annoying professors? Link arms with Nicole and Omar and get an MBA education for only $100.

With a lifelong dream of being a comedian and an actress, she moved to Los Angeles when her daughter was only two. Understanding the urge and the importance of being available for her family, she created a business that gave her the flexibility to work from home. With self-study in a field that was very distant to her, she became an in-demand political consultant and ended-up wearing that all-consuming hat for eight years. On the show, she explains that she "hated every minute". She even developed what she refers to as "resentment lumps". However, as you'll hear in her voice, she was more in love with her dream. Comedy actress, voice-over goddess, and co-host of the Angriest Trainer Podcast, Anna Vocino, joins us on the show to share the hopeful advice and lessons that kept her in the game.

Actress turned healer and facilitator, Patty Alfonso, joins us on the show to teach us on how to deal with change, and to share three powerful questions that will challenge our beliefs, clarify our possibilities, and empower our soul.
Patty's backstory >>> When people asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up, she would repeatedly answer - a cross between Mother Theresa and Marilyn Monroe. In other words, an influential, compassionate saint, with an edgy flare and a bold approach. She began acting in the 8th grade making stops in Puerto Rico, Georgia, and eventually ending up in California. She figured that if she became famous enough, she would then be able to help many people. Unfortunately, her ego's desire for fame, coupled with zero spirituality led to a life of parties, drugs, alcohol, and abusive relationships.
In the words of one of our earlier guests - She was paying a high price for low living.
Her turning point, sobriety, and ReLaunch! came when she realized that there had to be more to life that what she was experiencing.

Ever wonderful what makes a speaker get on stage, an author pour out their soul, or a firefighter run into a burning building; even when they're nervous, scared, or fearful? Second generation firefighter, Captain David Soler (Ret) explains.
Captain Soler's backstory >>> There's no gentle way to say this - Going through a very difficult bankruptcy (I'm not sure there's any other kind), he lost everything. She's performed with Cher, Pink, Janet Jackson, John Cougar Mellencamp, Lenny Kravitz, and is currently on tour with Toto and Michael McDonald. The amazing Jenny Douglas Foote joins us on the show to share her tipping-point, one more try moment.
Jenny's backstory >>> Swaying and weaving back and forth to whatever beat was available, as a toddler, she was rocking the crib. With an unquestionable love for music, performance, and dance, it was woven into her DNA. Harnessing the passion she felt and the abilities she developed, she entered a contest and recital around age 13. With her mom in the audience and all eyes on her (you probably know what happened next), she froze. That terrifying event (at least for me it would be), along with other false-starts and set-backs she'll explain on the show, caused her dream to be deferred. Not deleted.

Many authors have spoken about the importance of forgiveness and the act of forgiving others, regardless of the injustice or crime committed. And, while the concept makes sense in our head, it often gets lost somewhere before it gets to the heart. Our guest, writer, speaker, and courage-crafter, Di Riseborough, has put together the blueprint for helping us know what to do to make the connection.
If this is where you are, try this book - Forgiveness: How to let go when it still hurts
Di's backstory >>> Frankly, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have shown the same strength of character that she did. She was on the recovering end of her grandmother's murder; a murder by a family member.
Getting by the best she could, she finally realized, that she had never allowed herself to fully grieve the loss. Her breakthrough came through a live event she attended. For one of the first times in her life, she dropped her defenses and allowed others to see her cry
As you might imagine, for her, it opened wide the floodgates of awareness,, understanding, and, believe it or not, opportunity.

When he made the decision to shift his role to focus on a speaking career, even the mentor who helped him build his earlier business warned him and flat-out told him "no".
While Ty knew firsthand the benefits of seeking and following wise counsel, he also knew the stirrings of his heart and value of his message. He also knew, that to live up to his own potential, he had to make a way to share it.

That all came to a screeching halt when her marriage "blew up". In an instant, she was a single mom, without a job, weighed down by mixed messages and unknown outcomes. Drew's back story >>> After 25 years as a wound care specialist, the father of three, had become traumatized by what he saw. With an ongoing interest in technology, coupled with the mounting frustration with health care, he knew what he needed to do, but just didn't know exactly how. Knowing that he was called to touch the lives of more than he could, within a traditional hospital or clinic setting, he put his research and learning to work. Four pieces of advice Drew would give to his younger self
Thu, 31 July 2014
It was an incredible defining moment for her - Wrapped in a Mink coat once belonging to her step mom, and clutching a bottle her roommate had left behind, she drank herself down to a tear-soaked crawl. Lonely, desperate, and in pain, she managed to wipe away the sobs of people, experiences, and opportunities missed, found her footing, and chose to stand on a new perspective; one in which she would no longer hide-out, play small, or not go all-out. Her new way of thinking has paid off for her BIG time - she's gone from assistant, to VP, to business owner, to bestselling author. The gracious and courageous Libby Gill joins us to share an empowering and practical ReLaunch! idea for knowing what to do next.

It was an intense, high-stakes, stare-down, when they first locked eyes. She caught his gaze and refused to look away as armed guards ushered Saddam into the courtroom. He was the first to break the silence, yelling out a guttural, death-sentence command, that was answered with only laughter, as his words no longer had meaning or consequences attached to them. (He used to have people killed for staring at him.)
Colonel Jill Morgenthaler (RET) joins us on the show to share how she was able to keep the faith, stay confident, and transition from high-alerts and split-second timing, to Ted Talks and paid speaking engagements.
By the way, after her military and government career ended, she was pretty much an unemployable, entrepreneurial, 50ish, new recruit.
Colonel Jill shares her first steps as a new speaker:
Front-line managers and trail-blazers, this book will help you find The Courage to take Command.
Advice she would give her younger self

13 years ago, in just a quick few seconds, Dr. Wolf's life was turned on its head. A go-kart accident left him paralyzed from the waist down and as he explains on the show, took him from "the top of the mountain, to the bottom of the valley". He had a beautiful wife, ambitious kids, and one of the busiest OB/GYN practices in southeastern Michigan. Like many people who lose the ability or the opportunity to do the work they cherish, he felt like his identity had been removed. Author David Wolf joins us on the show to share the life-changing message of "The Gift is You" and to help us understand why he wouldn't change a thing.
Three of Dr. Wolf's AHA! moments

His first big audition wasn't just a no-go, as he explains on the show, he "failed so miserably". Still, because he was clear on what he wanted, he learned through his own trials, trips, and tense moments, how to turn them into game-changing, learning opportunities. And learn he did. In fact, he learned his way all the way from the local band scene to international stages and venues. He's played the skins for Tina Turner, Pink, and is currently on tour with the one and only Cher. A trifecta of entertainment within himself, the amazing Mark Schulman joins us and shares three essentials for top performers.

Working in the restaurant, co-owned with her husband, things moved so fast, she didn't have time to think. Not realizing she had grown addicted to the stress of constant knee-jerk reaction and motion. Once she left the business, she found herself spiritually restless, uneasy, and ready to reconnect with herself. Not knowing any better (no formal training or advanced degree), she picked up her first paintbrush at age 40. And, since that time, she has not only found her own inner artist, she has helped many others find theirs. As she explains on the show, she doesn't teach people how to paint, she helps people experience their own artistic awakening. Artist and author Dorsey McHugh joins us to talk about self discovery, fears, and all things artsy. Also, she talks about the wonderful and insightful book ,she co-authored with Joanne Miller: the recently released, Be your Finest Art.
An important part of the conversation, that needs to be mentioned, is that Dorsey never said to herself: "I want to be an art teacher. Therefore I must ..." She simply expressed herself fully and unapologetically. The students and opportunities came as a by-product of her expression.
Dorsey's world changed when she picked up the book Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards.

Can a diagnosis of cancer be a blessing? Listen to the show and decide for yourself.
Carolyn's back story >>> She was fully engaged - living in San Francisco on a fast-paced, entrepreneurial ride to success. Then, when her father fell ill, she moved across the country to care for her aging parents. Two years after the move, she would receive a diagnosis of thyroid cancer. Now, in a less familiar location, with a west coast business that didn't work in the east, she faced a variety of ReLaunches! Serial entrepreneur Carolyn Akel joins us on the show to share how she was able to change careers, start a new business, slow down her life and lifestyle, and focus on family, health, and relationships. She also gives three solid ideas for how to do it.
Two Big Drawbacks
As she shares on the show, for a long time, she was stuck in her head;
She was resentful and resisted the cross-country transition.
One of her biggest entrepreneurial and personal challenges (Isn't it true for all of us?)
Understanding who she really is and then recreating herself.
One of the important lessons learned during her sickness and recovery
Things that once appeared important, are petty.

After retiring early from the Army, like a lot of corporate veterans, he simply didn't know what he should do next. After all, he had been following orders for just about all of his working life. After testing the health, weight loss, and self-improvement waters, he decided to chart his entrepreneurial course for opportunities in that direction. Transplanting his family to a new town, he put together two key pieces of the business-building puzzle that helped him to not only sell-out his first live event, it put him on the map. Founder of The Prescott Adventure Boot Camp for Women, fitness coach Sgt. Steve Rosen (the go-to guy for helping women take control of their health), joins us on the show to explain how he was able to ramp-up his influence and expertise to get fast business traction.

She had a hard time wrapping her head around the idea of turning her "passion for fashion" into anything more than a fantasy. So, for the first part of her working life, she choose the safer route, and made her living as a seamstress. The idea of getting paid to shop, was just not part of her everyday thinking. As one girlfriend trip to the mall led to another, it was obvious to many that she had an eye for detail and a flair for style. Her companions would often say to her, “You can really charge for that.” On the show, fashion consultant Lori Wynne joins the conversation to share how she was able to walk away from what she knew, plan for the life she wanted, and step into what she loved. Fashion with Flair is now in its 10th year.
Her entrepreneurial turning point: When she realized that she wasn’t just a mom and had value to offer.
Biggest entrepreneurial challenge: She had to learn how to market and network effectively.
If she could go back and talk to the 20-year old Lori: “Have confidence in yourself!”
Lori’s best ideas for marketing, networking, and how to work a room: Talk about your passion to everyone. People are drawn to people who are passionate. You never know from where your next opportunity will come.

She had the victim mentality down pat. She was convinced that she was dealt a bad hand, spiraling into a web of self-pity and poor decision making that left her tangled-up, homeless, and unemployable. While she was reading good books and had a coach that flat-out told her - "Your attitude sucks," it took a shift in her own belief system, before it "struck home". Recently having celebrated her 60th birthday, and showing zero signs of slowing down, the no-nonsense, common sense, business coach, Kathleen Gage, joins the conversation to share how she systematized her business, made a lot of money, helped countless people, and carved out time for friends, family, and fun.
Here's a simple way to get started. Get Kathleen's Kindle book and go - Power up for Profits: The smart woman's guide to online marketing

It's amazing how fortune favors the brave. After an uninspiring day of trying to rally interest in their book, they had one final copy left. As a last-ditch effort, at least for this book conference, they handed-off the last copy to a stranger. After a quick read of the bullets and main points, he told Andrea and her husband - If you'll change the cover, I'll take 5,000. That one-more-try commitment, and go-for-broke mentality, started an incredible chain reaction that shaped the husband-and-wife team into powerhouse presenters. One-half of the Go for No team, Andrea Waltz joins us on the show to share the key ingredient that can jump-start solopreneur start-ups and revitalize brick and mortar businesses.
Andrea and her husband's book is a MUST for entrepreneurs and sales pros - Go for No!
A courageous decision with tremendous results
When they decided to move forward with the new biz strategy, marketing to old clients was over. Period. It was new business from here on out.

She was working as a personal trainer yet feeling like a fraud. Buying into the myth that heaviness ran in her family, as she explains on the show - I was teaching people how to lose weight, but couldn't lose it on my own. It took severe medical symptoms and a scare (extreme fatigue, chronic illness, and the brink of diabetes) to jolt her from a perpetual patient to a busy moms' champion. Health and Fit coach, Lisa Fox Bail, joins us on the show to share how she took control of her health, lost 65 lbs, and now empowers and equips moms to do the same.
An A-HA! moment Lisa shares on the show

After twenty-plus years of honing her craft as an entertainer - singer, actress, and recording artist, she found herself against the wall. Like most of us, she was so wrapped up in what she did (she was writing ads for the first half of her career), she didn't notice her natural gifts or the full value of what she had to offer. As her own case study of sorts, she learned that for her own success, the key was not to fix weaknesses, but to identify and optimize strengths. As she explains on the show - If you don't know your own value, you can't expect anyone else to either.
The amazing Sally Hogshead joins us on the show to share her hottest ideas from her latest book, How the World Sees You, and gives us an incredible tool for understanding what it means and how we can use it - the famous profile test "How the World Sees You".

When the doctor begins the conversation with, "This might be the worse I've seen..." you have a pretty good idea that the discussion is headed downhill. The told her she may never walk again. Obviously, that triggered a variety of signal-flare emotions for the fourth generation entrepreneur- fear, doubt, worry, guilt, shame, and confusion, signaling she needed to make deliberate shifts and adjustments to her life and lifestyle. She needed mobility, flexibility, and high income possibilities. On the show, international speaker, entrepreneur coach, and author of Solve any Problem in 10 Minutes, Tina Dietz shares how she was able to get back her confidence, raise her fees, and develop what she calls an "oasis-based business" - code for business at the beach.

Financially and emotionally bankrupt, he was out of ideas and out of resources. His father passed away in 2004 after a courageous fight and his mom unexpectedly followed him shortly thereafter. With his 401k up in smoke, and a house that was foreclosed upon, he promised himself that he would no longer trade his time for dollars. He recently celebrated his one-millionth podcast download. Host of The Solopreneur Hour - Job security for the unemployable, Michael O’Neal joins us on the show to share the three ingredients he needed to mix for success as a solo act.
Michael's Backstory >>> After losing his parents and facing financial collapse, a mentor suggested he take time to mourn his loss. While he never got the chance to take his parents to Europe while they were living, he did the next best thing he could think of - in a Parmesan shaker (straight up), he spread their ashes all over the continent - the Sistine Chapel, the Beaches of Normandy, Notre Dame, pretty much any landmark you can think of.
A common entrepreneurial mistake he talks about
Would-be entrepreneurs often convince themselves why something can't or won't work.

Today’s guest went from an overnight bread delivery driver, to a published author and an international speaker. He also created a plan that helped him trade in his snow shovel for a pair of flip-flops - a house in Wisconsin to a home in Hawaii. Writer, career coach, and dream-chasing expert, Kimanzi Constables joins us on the show to share how he doubled his income, grew his influence, and upgraded his lifestyle. Read his book - Are you Living or Existing
One of his biggest entrepreneurial fears
He didn't want to alienate people
A book that really helped with his concern - Book yourself Solid by Michael Port
His rallying cry
I don't want to be a carbon copy of everyone else.
A book that helped with his writing - Bird by Bird
Kimanzi's backstory >>> For twelve years, today’s guest settled on being stuck.
He was doing work that made him miserable, was 142 pounds over-weight. and lived in an area he couldn’t wait to leave.
After growing sick and tired of being sick and tired, in 2012 he finally said to himself, and his wife, “enough is enough” and took action on his dream; the entrepreneurial dream that kept him up at night.

Night shift operations manager, turned entrepreneur, online marketer and top podcaster, Anthony Tran, host of "Marketing Access Pass", joins us on the show to share how he was able to build a business that would give him time with family, relief from stress, and opportunities for professional growth. (His greatest worry turned out to be an unquestionable asset.)
Anthony's back story >>> He would spend two-thirds of his night-shift (2p-1a) lunch hour commuting back-and-forth from home, leaving a precious 20 minutes for his young son and wife. Over time, the migraine headaches would set-in, some worse than others, with some lasting for two weeks. While he was trying to do right by his family, he was missing out and losing himself in the process. It was obvious to him that his situation needed to change and, as he explains on the show - if I wanted freedom, I had to find a way.
Stimulated by an idea from his uncle, coupled with his wife's confidence and the support of other aspiring solo-preneurs and world-changers, he knew he had the know-how and tools to make the business work, he just had to get over his own mental speed bumps to convince himself to go full throttle. As you'll hear on the show, one of his biggest concerns, actually turned out to be the accelerator he needed.
Words of wisdom and experience from Anthony and "Marketing Access Pass"

Cliff's backstory >>> A guaranteed half-million dollar paycheck was waiting for him if he could just hold out. And, while he tried, for a while to hang in there (after all, it was the business his father built), the emotional and relational costs were something he and his wife were no longer willing to pay; the “real cost” of his success was destroying his self-esteem, family relationships, and spiritual wholeness. He was at risk of bottoming out. Says Stephanie - I need to know I can have my husband back.
Cliff Ravenscraft, THE Podcast Answerman joins us on the show to share how he made the most irresponsible decision possible, and how it benefited and served everyone.

Like a lot of well-intentioned, heart-centered, people do, she promised herself that "someday" she would write a book. Confident she had more to offer, but uncertain that her nursing background would transfer well (or at all) into the book-writing or entrepreneurial world, she pulled her resources, drummed up her courage, and came up with her own solution. Bestselling author, coach, and transformational speaker, Debra Kasowski joins us on the show to share practical steps for making the transition from occupation to empowering lifestyle.
A book she co-authored with Charmaine Hammond - GPS your Best Life

Kate's back story >>> While she enjoyed her HR job at a bank, her appetite for challenge and thirst for growth were not being satisfied. Doing what she thought she was supposed to do in her professional life - climb the ladder, the straw that finally broke the corporate camel's back was when, in 2010, she was skipped over for a promotion. She was understandably heartbroken and, as she explains on the show, went through a period of sadness and victim-thinking. That changed for her though, once she was reminded of the potential she has; the potential she had forgotten, simply because it wasn't given the value it deserved.
Was she scared of the unknown, by following her instincts and moving into the entrepreneurial world? Of course she was! After all, everything she would now try to create for herself, she hadn't done.

Given the orders to hunt down a suicide bomber in an Iraqi town of two million, Officer Smiley spotted what appeared to him to be a suspicious vehicle - an Opel (a common car driven in Iraq) that was weighed down heavily by something in it's back seat or trunk. Summoning the driver, there was a defiant response. After two, out-of-harm's-way warning rounds by Smiley, he heard a boom, and as he explains on the show, "my world went black". From a trailer park beginning, she worked herself up and into a Beverly Hills lifestyle as a model and an actress. Jet-setting between on-location sets and her original Texas home, on the outside, her life looked glamorous, exciting, and fun. However, as she explains on the show, "inside I was dying". The mixture of long hours with high stakes, made for a dangerous recipe. "I found different ways to numb myself." A late-night routine she fell into involved Vicodin and booze.

He, like a lot of entrepreneurs didn't fully recognize the signs and signals of when to walk away, when they first began appearing - decisions that were once a breeze became cumbersome and relationships that were once easy, became challenging and difficult to manage. But, once he realized his own burning desire to man the helm, make the important decisions, and steer the ship, it was obvious to him three things he needed to do - 1) Create an exit plan; 2) Develop his new business; 3) Bridge the gap

The decisions that drove her life were based on knee-jerk reactions, obligations, and, to a certain extent, the urgencies of other people. And, while she did the best with what she knew, and what other people expected of her, as she explains on the show, she felt like a fraud.
Even when physical complications started to creep in, she would either pretend that they didn't exist, or dismiss them as minor symptoms. While she knew she needed to make changes in her life and career for a long time, the heart failure (as you can imagine) got her full attention. As Kelly Orchard, author of Heart Lessons, shares, "My heart crisis changed my heart. I got another chance."
On the show Kelly shares the valuable lessons she learned of surrender and being present, and gives three action steps for living in, what she likes to call, 3D.

He spent 30 years in the sport's trenches - covering everything from minor league tryouts to world championship games. Using his own creativity and flair, during that time, he had developed an incredible knack for distilling some of the most memorable moments in sports, into short, bite-sized, TV-time nuggets. To his credit, his on-screen presence and ability to communicate and connect, has earned him an incredible 15 Emmy awards.
Daunted by the "overwhelm" of trying to write a book or put together a meaty presentation, Joe, our guest, was challenged in his writing. He was fluid in his ability to tell it quickly, however, expanding, elaborating, packing in more punch, that would take a new set of skills. As Joe explains on the show - "Chop wood one day at a time."

It was a prison sentence he levied against himself. After the divorce, he "punished" himself greatly - doing what he could to fill the void with external noise, distractions, and experiences.
His health took a nosedive, his weight shot up, his relationships tanked, and he fell into a depression, taking things from bad to worse. As he explains on the show, "I was driven by the pain of what I didn't want."
He was about halfway through his medication when something within him triggered - he was sick and tired, of being sick and tired.
From that A-HA! moment on, personally, he would learn how to fill his emptiness with self-love and healthy habits. Professionally, he would create, develop, and grow a business that adds value and solves real-world challenges.
Entrepreneurial front-runner and branding specialist Tony Teegarden, joins us on the show to help us remember that we have the power to change our situation, circumstances, and life, the moment we decide to do so.
Tony was his own solution. Huge for an entrepreneur!!!
His philosophy and business model - Turn problems into profits.
He was sick and tired, of being sick and tired.
An A-HA! moment Tony shares on the show
Sometimes, the only way out, is to go through.
One of the greatest ReLaunch! lessons he learned
I learned to fill the void with self love, not external things.
Tony's best advice for ReLaunchers and second-half starters
Wed, 25 June 2014
He spent the first half of his professional life chasing the "magazine version" of what he thought success was supposed to look like - travel, big-ticket opportunities, and influence. And, through sweat equity, a solid work ethic, and a strong belief in himself, he caught-up with what he thought he was after.
While things looked to be going well for him, at least on the surface, internally it was a different story. The things that used to excite and light him up, no longer had that same spark to them. He knew something was missing. Comparing his malaise-like symptoms to the effects of a drug that no longer has a kick to it, he did want a lot of people do when experiencing a mid-life crisis, he did his best to "up the dosage". What he learned is that he was tired of the drug.
Internationally known speaker, author, and performance coach Joe Calloway joins us on the show to share his best advice for second-half comeback artists, relaunchers, folks that are ready to begin again.
One of his rookie mistakes
Spending to much time worrying about what other people might think.
Joe's best advice for entrepreneurs, game-changers, and ReLaunch! artists
Instead of asking yourself “What are the big things that make my life fulfilling”, spend time reflecting on”What are the moments that make me happy.”
His life-changing self-taught lesson
Joe realized he couldn't have everything, but he could have what was most important.
If he could time travel and give advice to little Joe

He wrestled with God for three years over this gut-wrenching decision - to step-away from the tremendously successful company (not just any company, Dave Ramsey's company) he helped to build, so he could create one of his own. Then, after many meetings, much prayer, and tears shed by him and his high-profile boss, he followed the pull that was tugging at his spirit to do what he knew was right. He left.
As one of its key leaders since pretty much day one, he played an incredible role in helping Dave Ramsey become the household name and topic of Bible-study conversations that he is today. Among the many game-changing projects he led while at the Lampo Group, was the incredible growth and development of their staple live event product - Total Money Makeover Live. He grew it from a well-attended banquet hall of 1,600, to a stadium full of 11,000 people per event.
Entrepreneurial and leadership expert Chris Locurto joins us on the show to share why he left Ramsey, his fears in doing so, and how he found immediate success before he was even out the door.
Chris' greatest fear in leaving
What if I fail? What if people don't like me anymore?
A blessing that caught him completely off-guard!
As he was saying his final good-byes, actually still in the Financial Peace building, he earned his first client; completely reinforcing his ReLaunch! decision.
An A-HA! moment Chris shares on the show

Make sure your business changes lives and is bigger than you are.
If he could time-travel back and give advice to little Chris
Understand... It's not about you.

While she had developed expertise as a clinical practitioner and savvy business owner, like a lot of seasoned pros, symptoms of burnout replaced the excitement that was once there. Her challenge, as she explains on the show - I played the role for so long, I couldn't see myself doing anything different. The combination of the last child leaving the house and a job transfer for her husband, set-up a great opportunity for a ReLaunch! And, when someone asked her for a business card, it set the process in full motion. Entrepreneurial leader, conference speaker, and author Kathy Bruner joins us on the show to share ideas and insight on how to harness PLAN B.

If you not familiar with Sarah yet, she is the lady who can help you find the right time and the right steps, to build a profitable business around your lifestyle. Sarah, founder of Happy Entrepreneur magazine, believes, that through smart business ownership, women are able to experience a freedom in their lives that no other career can offer. Beginning her career as a nurse, she knew it was a stable job, yet she wanted more - more for herself, and more from herself. And, while well-meaning friends, family members, and mentors would give her advice and ideas, it simply wasn't something she could take ownership of. She had to be true to who she really was - not who other people said or wanted her to be. As she explains on the show, getting connected with her own authenticity didn't happen overnight. It fact it got worse (anxiety and medication) before it got better. However, over time, it empowered her to chart and stay the course for her own financial, emotional, and spiritual wholeness.
A common mistake
Like a lot of responsible moms, for a period of time, she tricked herself into believing, “I can’t enjoy anything until…”

While some might say that he had a "secure" job, he felt trapped - surviving and working for the security, but hardly living. Trained as a pharmacist, he was good at what he did, receiving recognition and accolades for his work, he just couldn't imagine a replay of the same over the next 20 years. As he openly talks about on the show, the anxiety and racing heart rate were strong signals to him that he needed to make a change. Through a series of personal growth events, he realized that he had the power to question, challenge and change his perspective and direction. As a mother of three, she knew her responsibilities and what needed to be done. And, while she had worked up from a very rough start (a poor choice at 18 that landed her in the federal pen), she found herself swimming in a sea of sameness, and not getting anywhere new. Determined to do what was best for her and those that depended on her, she was plagued with at least two questions - Is this the right thing? and is it too late? In his own words, he was "backed in a corner". He had racked-up $400,000 worth of debt and his creditors, including the IRS, were expecting payment. With that kind of tab to pay, he knew that a standard 9-to-5 job wouldn't make much of a dent in his liabilities. And, he also knew that it would take a lot more than a side job with low wages to dig out from the hole in which he found himself. It would take a powerful blend of five ingredients - passion, determination, talent, self discipline, and faith. America's Career Coach, Dan Miller joins us on the show to share common career mistakes in the new economy and insight for beginning again. The book that started it all, 48 Days to the Work you Love is phenomenal.

When I asked him why he wrote the book, without hesitation, he mentioned his two elementary-age children - an eight year-old son and a daughter that's 12. "They don't have a chance," he said; referring to the future job prospects that won't be waiting for them once they reach their teen and adult years. And, as the value of emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and street smarts, continue to skyrocket, building a business, working in your strengths, and doing what you love, has become less of a game of "fitting in" and more of an opportunity to "belong".
In his own words - "The time for average is over."
Advisor, strategist, keynote speaker, and best selling author Chris Brogan joins us on the show to share his learning experiences from his professional relaunch as well as ideas and tips from his latest book, The Freaks Shall Inherit the Earth - a real-world playbook for nonconformists, cubicle refugees, out-of-box thinkers, and misunderstood pioneers.

The real estate market was at its peak and his income skyrocketed. And, what he was used to making annually, he was now seeing monthly. And then, in 2008-2009, the economic bubble burst, and like many others, he found himself in trouble, resentful, and facing bankruptcy. On top of all of that, due to the scary reality of medical complications, he physically lost his voice. As he openly shares on the show and in his book, "What just Happened?" he was angry at the world - his business partners, the doctors, even at God. Unable to fully process his emotions and experiences, for about three years, he would wake up worried - focused and locked-in on his losses, rather than on his blessings. As he puts it, "I was difficult to live with." Triggered to action by a simple message he heard from motivational speaker Les Brown, he realized that he had a choice to make - to wallow and whine, or to win and shine. Bestselling author Jimmy Burgess joins us on the show and and shares the steps he took that helped him get back his life, business, and health.

He became tangled in his own parachute.
I can hardly imagine the experience - Plummeting to the ground at breakneck speed, only to realize, in a very sobering shock, that you're tangled among ropes and nylon, armed with nothing more than your own resourcefulness. Amidst the free-falling confusion, came a very clarifying revelation - No one is coming to save me. If I'm going to survive it is completely up to me. The lesson he learned in the air, instilled in him a confidence that transferred well into the business world. In a ReLaunch! himself, today's guest nailed it - Don't replicate. Reinvent.
Expanding on the idea, he talks about how reinvention (his codeword for ReLaunch!) doesn't have to be reserved for a momentous occasion, it can be the result of small, incremental, daily decisions. Open to his own changing personal dynamics, beliefs and expectations, he realized that the key to a successful second-half blastoff is to unlearn what's no longer helpful and to replace it with what works now. Bestselling author and world-class speaker, the amazing Mark Sanborn, joins us to share a handful of his best ideas, tips, and A-HAs.

It was a turn-of-the-tables. A question he often asks patients and clients, was now being asked of him by his young daughter - “Why do you put up with this?” With a jolt of sobering reality, he realized (like many under his care have), that he didn't need nor have to any longer. With a decision of second-half self-care, he chose to ReLaunch! his life, based on what he knew to be true of himself - success from the inside out. During the first phase of her professional life, she "worked real hard to get to where she didn't want to be". And, while her resume was filled with household names and familiar brands (Sony, Universal, and Turner Broadcasting), she found herself needing the personal growth and experiential change that corporate America could not offer.
In her 40s, she began making the shifts and adjustments that would help her to live-out the life that she knew was waiting for her - she bought a house, left her marriage, walked away from her corporate gig, and at age 47, published her first book. Unorthodox? Perhaps. However, she learned that she is resilient and resourceful through dramatic midlife changes. She landed right in the middle of her childhood dream, to work in the music business. And, while the nine years spent in that industry were fun, exciting, and personally fulfilling, she recognized (over time) that the spiritual restlessness she felt was really a signal for her to move on and explore other venues and other opportunities. The question she kept asking herself - Is this the best gift I have to offer? Today’s guest loves “putting feet to vision”, leadership front-runner and author, Jenni Catron.

If you've ever heard this man speak, you would quickly agree that Bob Burg is one of the most gracious and thoughtful people that have ever graced a platform. The verbal mixture of sincerity and practicality softens any stage and endears the hearts of worldwide audiences. While it caught me off guard (he is one of my heroes in the speaking world), this wasn't always the case for him. Not by a long shot. On the show, The Go Giver himself, Bob Burg talks openly about his early-in-life battles with OCD (in his own words - debilitating), gossiping, and negativity. (My own personal commentary - Bob's willingness to be transparent and open about his struggles and personal ReLaunch! says more about him and his character than this interview could ever do.)

Physically weak but spiritually and emotionally strong
Originally with a dime-store guitar, when he became to weak to play basketball and do teenage boy stuff, as his mother says, he found "shelter" in his music.
